Weird Wednesday - Deadliest Catch: The Social Game

One of the biggest things on Facebook since its inception are its games. From Farmville, to Mafia Wars, Scrabble, and even Chess Pro, everyone is playing flash based games in their browser on Facebook. Well not to be outdone by other options the brass behind the hit Discovery Channel show "The Deadliest Catch" are in development with Hive Media for a Deadliest Catch Facebook game.

Oddly enough, this brings the grand total of Deadliest Catch games available to a whopping FOUR. They have one on their Discovery website, two available for multi-platforms (2008's Alaskan Storm & out the 29th Sea of Chaos), and now the newest game specifically for those of us who participate in the social media giant Facebook. I personally do not watch the show but apparently it must translate well to the virtual world. Otherwise, why would we have four games over various platforms?

This news was just released on November 1st so there is little information floating around about it, but according to Social Times: "Players will be put in the shoes of captains of their own crab boats and make decisions out in the Bering Sea to balance risk and profits, with the goal of climbing to the top of the crab-count leaderboard."

For those of you interested in playing the game. If you sign up via Discovery Channel's blog you can qualify for $50,000 of in-game currency and 20 crab coins. Sign up by clicking the image below. Have fun, and enjoy!
