This week's Streaming Sunday feature is a movie about heavy metal legends. No it's not the story of Cannibal Corpse, Metallica, Pantera, Megadeth or likely any metal band you can name off. It's the story of aging rockers Anvil. They hit it big for a split second during the 80's touring with bands like The Scorpions, Whitesnake, and Bon Jovi.Well they haven't hit the big time since then and they've been hitting the road ever since. This is the story about playing music to play music NOT to make money. In fact on a lot of the band's former gigs THEY paid to travel there only to be shafted by the promoter after the show, receiving far less than promised. Their story is truly a story of friendship, passion and commitment.
Few bands today can make it five years together without breaking up, yet throughout their 20-something year history two of the three parts of Anvil have never changed. Robb Reiner (no not the famous actor/director) and Steve "Lips" Kudlow have been out there making music trying to make it big since they were teenagers. Finally after all the years they are getting the notoriety that they have always fought for. Please sit back and enjoy their story below, "Anvil!, The Story of Anvil".
